Have you tried to give up Smoking?

If you have ever tried to get rid of your smoking habit, you should know for sure what usually happens once you put out your last cigarette.
During several days the physiology is rife and rampant, as you are facing the toughest of nicotine cravings. But you have to overcome that period, it’s severe, but will last several days. Once you feel you managed to prevail, another challenge rises.
It is the psychological part of addiction that will torment you during several months, being easier-to-bear than, but still tough to overcome.
Therefore, exactly during this period you should make sure to replace the so-needed cigarettes with the following things:

Use Fresh Air
In other words, the oxygen, which is the main part of the air, can help you alleviate your nicotine cravings. If you have a an office-job, you know there is always not enough fresh air, and people are eager to get to the street, and smoking is a good reason for that.
Thus, sometimes- a cigarette – is only a psychological reason for having a break.
So, instead of hitting the smoking-room, better take a walk. According to Norwegian researchers from the Bergen University, making 15-20 deep breaths will be enough to reduce nicotine cravings for several hours.

Try an Eggplant

If you have nicotine withdrawal problems, German scientists recommend eating eggplant salads to overcome the symptoms of withdrawal.
Do not be shocked, the thing is that eggplants contain significant amount of nicotinic acid (Vitamin PP). This is why eggplants have a bitterish taste.
So, German doctors strongly recommend all smokers who are trying to quit, eating these bright-colored vegetables everyday within several months after giving up smoking.
Such diet will alleviate discomfort, but will not poison you with nicotine, since from 1 eggplant you will receive 1mkg of nicotine, what is exactly one thousand times less than you typically get from an ulta light cigarette.

Serious Warnings on Cigarette Packs Could Encourage Some People to Smoke

Every now and again a finding comes along that provides perfect ammunition for psychologists confronted by the tiresome claim that psychology is all 'common sense'. Researchers have found that death-related health warnings on cigarette packs are likely to encourage some people to smoke. The surprising result is actually consistent with 'Terror-management Theory', according to which thoughts of mortality cause us to cling more strongly to our cultural beliefs and to pursue ego-boosting activities.

Jochim Hansen and colleagues first measured how important smoking was to the self-esteem of 39 student smokers. Example questionnaire items included 'smoking allows me to feel valued by others'. Next, the smokers were divided into two groups: one group looked at two cigarette packs that featured death-related warnings, such as 'Smokers die earlier'. The other group looked at cigarette packs that featured death-neutral warnings, such as 'Smoking makes you unattractive.'

Fifteen minutes later all the students reported their attitudes to smoking; the questionnaire included items such as 'Do you intend to quit smoking?'. Among the students for whom smoking was important to their self-esteem, those who looked at packets with death-related warnings subsequently reported more positive attitudes to smoking compared with those who looked at death-neutral packets. The exact opposite pattern was found for students for whom smoking was not important for their self-esteem.

An Interesting Solution to the Problem of Littered Cigarette Butts

Everywhere you go, you can find cigarette butts lying around somewhere. They’re on the sidewalk, on the streets, strewn across parking lots and even throughout parks, beaches, and our own backyards. It doesn’t matter if there’s a trash can or other cigarette disposal bin nearby, people flick them wherever they feel like it and it doesn’t do anyone any bit of good.
Fortunately, one company has come up with an interesting solution for this problem. Since it’s highly unlikely that we will see thousands (or millions) of people quit smoking cold turkey and also unlikely that they’ll stop carelessly flicking their cigarette butts anywhere they please, then the solution lies in changing the cigarette itself.
Green Butts has created a completely biodegradable, 100% environmentally friendly cigarette filter. The filter body is made from organic cotton and natural de-gummed hemp, while a mixture of wheat flour and water hold it all together. Oh, and it includes one other very special ingredient: seeds! That’s right: each of their filters contains a variety of seeds, including: grass, flower, fruit, herb, and tree seeds!
Now, they are quick to note that they do not condone littering, and suggest putting the used filters in your own garden or planter. However, the good news is at least if people use these particular filters, there are no toxic chemicals, and any flicked cigarette butts will quickly biodegrade and sprout little plants of some kind. This is certainly great news, considering that according to their website:
“It is estimated that 4.5 trillion cigarette butts become litter every year.”
That’s a lot of trash—and it can take a regular cigarette butt at least 15 years to biodegrade! The Green Butts filters are currently patent pending, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you see them on the market soon.
